Our limited edition, urban pottery is handmade with love in Brussels, Belgium. Each piece is unique to KA PAI and made by our inhouse creative Sarah Bruford. She practices a Wabi Sabi philosophy in all her clay creations. KA PAI wishes they could practice Wabi Sabi more in real life.

This series of plates are part of our Scallop signature collection They are the perfect breakfast plate for a happy morning croissant. Each plate in the series is slightly different as they are individually hand cut & glazed. Everything we create is driven by functionality but also our core belief that life is too short to be dull!

THE STORY
KA PAI's creative director first tried pottery as a child in New Zealand. One of her crafty grandmothers lived next to a school which taught creative classes after hours. Crafty Grannie made friends with the pottery teacher who she then talked into teaching her grandchildren.  Sarah vividly remembers, at age 9, her first encounter with the pottery wheel. As no pottery survives she suspects it was not a mutual love. Thankfully the story of clay love did continue with a multitude of clever, crafty teachers. We hope to encourage people to shop for unique pieces from local artists. As part of the makers movement KA PAI believes in supporting makers and not machines!

We'd love to hear from you if you have any questions.
*We do our very best to make sure colours are as close to real life as possible. Your computer may not. Silly machines.
