THE DETAILS
In 1946, Jack Orenstein of the Everlast Metal Products company successfully campaigned for aluminium to replace tin as the official 10th anniversary wedding emblem. To this day the material is given as the 10th anniversary gift.
Aluminium is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust, falling behind oxygen and silicon. It is the most abundant metal. It is somewhat surprising, then, that aluminium was not discovered until relatively late in human history. Aluminium occurs naturally only in compounds, never as a pure metal.
We'd love to hear from you if you have any questions.
